Visual Storytelling in the Bay Area
From the Presidio compost yard to the Año Nuevo elephant seal sanctuary, my video work showcases the best of the Bay Area through narrative-centered visual storytelling.
Educational Video Series: “SCIENCE!”
While at Peninsula Open Space Trust, I had a major role in producing the successful social media series, “SCIENCE!” As screenwriter, camerawoman, and assistant video editor, we produced nine episodes of the series, reaching tens of thousands of views. Here are links to three of my favorites:
Leave Your Leaves!
The importance of keeping fallen leaves out of landfills, and the benefits that natural decomposition brings to your yard.
Ladybugs (are not bugs)!
Breaking down the taxonomy and lifecycle of everyone’s favorite “bug” (spoiler: it’s technically a beetle!)
Elephant Seals of Año Nuevo
We get up close and personal (safely) with the elephant seals of Año Nuevo State Park. Learn about these massive creatures’ molting and mating patterns!
Presidio Trust Informational Video Series: “Janeen on the Scene”
At my current job, I co-founded and produce this internal staff video series, which highlights the work being done across all Presidio Trust Departments. This episode on the Compost Yard goes behind the scenes to show how the park’s green waste is converted to a useful soil amendment. Featuring interviews with Zero Waste Managers. Watch below!
National Park Service: Volunteer Video Services
I’m a huge fan of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, managed by the NPS (with help from the Parks Conservancy). In my free time, I’ve created social media videos on a volunteer basis to advertise upcoming exhibits, spotlight ranger programs, or simply share the love of national parks.
Waterbird Exhibit Promotion
Featuring a dance party on Alcatraz, after hours.

Transit-Forward Content
Without a car, it can feel difficult to access hikes and trails. That’s why I created these videos on how you can get outside using alternative transportation – including bike, bus, and boat.

Project Coverage for Peninsula Open Space Trust
At POST, I created these videos to supplement articles on completed projects, combining interview material and video footage to tell the story of the project from start to finish.

Butano Creek Restoration
See how POST helped to reconnect Butano Creek with over 100 acres of its historic floodplain.
Video Series: “Bay Area By Hand“
When I was a Media Production Intern for Pedal Born Pictures, I helped to create social media content that spotlights businesses and people whose hands-on work supports or provides for the Bay Area community.
